Your proposed learning journey
Six modules. Space to learn and practise.
Explore the planned lessons and practical work below. The curriculum will be reviewed before enrolment opens.
Module 1
Codependency concepts in context
Use the framework as a lens for patterns rather than a label for people.
- Care, support and over-responsibility
- Patterns without labels
- Your professional scope
Put it into practice
Compare fictional examples of care, mutual support and over-responsibility; identify context missing from each.
Module 2
Mapping a relational pattern
Help a participant notice choices without assigning motives.
- Situations and familiar responses
- Needs, costs and context
- Questions that invite choice
Put it into practice
Create a pattern map from a fictional case using situations, responses, needs and costs.
Module 3
Boundaries and self-responsibility
Teach clear boundaries without prescribing a relationship decision.
- What belongs to whom
- Requests, limits and consequences
- Working with discomfort
Put it into practice
Develop a boundary statement and role-play three possible responses while keeping the participant’s choices central.
Module 4
Demonstration and guided practice
Structure a focused educational conversation.
- Opening a scoped conversation
- Reflecting without rescuing
- Closing with a chosen step
Put it into practice
Observe a model vignette, annotate consent and scope decisions, then practise a bounded peer conversation.
Module 5
Complex situations and referral
Recognise when the educational framework is insufficient.
- When a pattern map is not enough
- Harm without mutual blame
- Support and supervision
Put it into practice
Review fictional cases involving distress or relationship harm and identify when to pause, consult or refer.
Module 6
Assessment and integration
Demonstrate bounded use of the framework.
- Case reflection
- Observed peer practice
- Reflective portfolio
Put it into practice
Submit a case formulation limited to educational observations, an observed peer session and a revised practice plan.
How the learning will work.
Before you begin.
Proposed entry: TUWC Foundations or equivalent, relevant subject learning and a reviewed statement of existing qualifications and scope.
Learning and practice.
Proposed online theory and demonstrations with reviewed practice, with an in-person cohort also planned. Attendance and supervised practice requirements will be confirmed before enrolment.
Planned activities use fictional examples, private reflection and optional practice with consenting peers.
Putting it together.
Proposed evidence: a scope and consent statement, practical work from the modules, an observed fictional peer exercise, a reflective portfolio and a development plan. Final criteria, assessor arrangements, practice hours and completion wording will be confirmed before enrolment.
A clear scope.
An educational framework for reflection. The programme does not authorise diagnosis, psychotherapy or treatment beyond a learner’s existing qualifications.
Any completion award, TUWC delivery permissions or external recognition will be clearly stated before enrolment.
Something to take with you
Create a practical takeaway.
A fictional pattern map, scoped reflection exercise and observer checklist for consent, responsibility and participant choice.
You will build this through reflection and small practice tasks. It is something you can adapt, return to and use beyond the course.
Your learning resources
More than lessons to watch.
The planned course kit supports reflection, practice and integration. Course-specific workbook drafts are being prepared for review; student downloads will become available with the released course.
Your course workbook
A course-specific draft with a starting reflection, 6 module worksheets, 18 lesson practice prompts and a closing review.
Module practice worksheets
A printable worksheet for each module, bringing the lesson ideas into examples, decisions and small practices. These are included in the workbook.
Your personal takeaway
A fictional pattern map, scoped reflection exercise and observer checklist for consent, responsibility and participant choice.
Reflection and integration plan
A before-and-after check-in, a manageable practice plan and a review of what helped, what changed and where more support is needed.
Practice portfolio prompts
Fictional-case reflection, consent and scope questions, and space to identify supervision or assessment needs. Final professional requirements are still being defined.
