Module 1

The facilitator role and learning journey

Translate relationship recovery themes into a bounded educational programme.

  • Recovery education and its limits

  • TUWC delivery responsibilities

Put it into practice
Create a sample learner journey showing learning aims, facilitator responsibilities and referral limits.

Module 2

Preparing a group

Create participation conditions that respect privacy and choice.

  • Suitability and support needs
  • Access and group agreements
  • Privacy and communication

Put it into practice
Draft a fictional group invitation, access questions and a participation agreement.

Facilitating core reflection

Guide self-trust, boundaries and relationship-pattern learning.

  • Identity and self-trust
  • Boundaries and choices
  • Reflection without forced disclosure

Put it into practice
Design a case-based exercise that moves from noticing a pattern to choosing a personal next step.

Group dynamics and difficult moments

Respond consistently when group learning moves beyond its remit.

  • Balancing voices
  • Interrupting blame or unsolicited advice
  • Pausing and seeking support

Put it into practice
Role-play advice-giving, domination and an unexpected disclosure, using agreed facilitator boundaries.

Module 5

Session design and practice

Deliver a coherent opening, activity and close.

  • Planning a learning sequence
  • Co-facilitation and pacing
  • Integration and follow-up

Put it into practice
Prepare a session plan with timings as a draft, accessible alternatives and a co-facilitator handover.

Module 6

Demonstration and delivery readiness

Review facilitation against clear proposed criteria.

  • Observed group segment
  • Feedback and revision
  • Ongoing support and permissions

Put it into practice
Deliver a fictional group segment and assemble a session plan, feedback record and development plan.

How the learning will work.

Before you begin.

Proposed entry: TUWC Foundations or equivalent, relevant relationship curriculum and a reviewed account of facilitation experience.

Learning and practice.

Proposed online theory and demonstrations with reviewed practice, with an in-person cohort also planned. Attendance and supervised practice requirements will be confirmed before enrolment.

Planned activities use fictional examples, private reflection and optional practice with consenting peers.

Putting it together.

Proposed evidence: a scope and consent statement, practical work from the modules, an observed fictional peer exercise, a reflective portfolio and a development plan. Final criteria, assessor arrangements, practice hours and completion wording will be confirmed before enrolment.

A clear scope.

Preparation for educational group facilitation. Completion would not itself authorise programme delivery; TUWC delivery permissions, supervision and assessment will be defined before launch.

Any completion award, TUWC delivery permissions or external recognition will be clearly stated before enrolment.

Something to take with you

Create a practical takeaway.

A proposed learning portfolio connecting foundation skills, fictional cases, feedback and questions for supervised practice or further training.

You will build this through reflection and small practice tasks. It is something you can adapt, return to and use beyond the course.

Your learning resources

More than lessons to watch.

The planned course kit supports reflection, practice and integration. Course-specific workbook drafts are being prepared for review; student downloads will become available with the released course.

Your course workbook

A course-specific draft with a starting reflection, 6 module worksheets, 18 lesson practice prompts and a closing review.

Module practice worksheets

A printable worksheet for each module, bringing the lesson ideas into examples, decisions and small practices. These are included in the workbook.

Your personal takeaway

A proposed learning portfolio connecting foundation skills, fictional cases, feedback and questions for supervised practice or further training.

Reflection and integration plan

A before-and-after check-in, a manageable practice plan and a review of what helped, what changed and where more support is needed.

Practice portfolio prompts

Fictional-case reflection, consent and scope questions, and space to identify supervision or assessment needs. Final professional requirements are still being defined.
